The ancient Hebrew language had no word for "body" as distinct from the person. They couldn't say "I have a body"; they could only say "I am a body" (basar). This linguistic reality reveals their integrated view of human nature—you can't separate who you are from your physical existence. The Greeks had four words distinguishing body from soul; the Hebrews had none.
