The Harvest That Comes From Coming

Beloved, let us sit together beneath the olive tree and speak of a word that carries the fragrance of the threshing floor and the weight of the harvest basket. The word before us is תְּבוּאָה — tᵉbûwʼâh — and it appears forty-two times across the Holy Scriptures. It is a word of abundance, of what is brought forth from the womb of the earth and from the labor of hands. But beneath its surface, like a root reaching for hidden waters, it speaks of something deeper than mere grain or gold. It speaks of what comes when something — or someone — has truly arrived.

The Root That Returns

The sages teach that every Hebrew word is a door, and its root is the key. תְּבוּאָה comes from the verb בּוֹא (bo), which means "to come, to enter, to arrive." This is no accident. The harvest does not simply appear; it comes. It arrives. It enters into your storehouse after a season of waiting. Proverbs chapter three, verse nine, commands you: "Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your תְּבוּאָה." Here the word is linked to the first and the best — not the leftovers, but the beginning of the harvest. Jewish tradition holds that the firstfruits were brought to the Temple with baskets of gold and silver, and the priest would take them and wave them before the altar. The increase of the field became an act of worship. The rabbis of old observed that when you honor God with the first of what comes to you, the barns themselves are filled with plenty. The Harvest of the Nations

The Messiah Who Came as Seed

In the Gospel of John, chapter twelve, verse twenty-four, He said: "Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much תְּבוּאָה." The apostolic tradition teaches that Yeshua Himself is the seed that fell into the earth of death, and His resurrection is the firstfruits of a harvest that will never end. The Tanakh promised that the increase of the righteous would fill the world, and in Yeshua, that increase became a person. He is the תְּבוּאָה of the Father — the One who came from the bosom of the Father to bring many sons and daughters to glory. Every harvest you gather in the field is a parable of His coming. Every loaf of bread on your table is a reminder that the true Bread came down from heaven.

Your Own Harvest of Coming

And now, beloved, I speak to you directly. You have been given a life, and that life is a field. What are you allowing to come into it? The word תְּבוּאָה teaches you that your harvest is not merely what you produce — it is what you receive. You cannot force the seed to grow by your own striving; you can only prepare the soil and wait for the rain from above. The increase you long for — in your character, in your relationships, in your provision — will come when you learn to honor the One who brings it. Honor Him with the first of your time, the first of your strength, the first of your increase. Let the harvest of your life be a testimony that you have not trusted in your own arm, but in the Lord who makes all things come in their season.
