Paul's Handkerchief is Bible study with a difference — going word-by-word through Scripture to reclaim the Ancient Near East context, romance, and mystery that modern translations often leave behind.
Only about 3% of people around the world who start the Bible ever finish it. The 3% Club is for those ready to break that cycle — reading the entire Bible at their own pace, backed by community and tools built to make finishing not just possible, but inevitable. You also get a certificate to celebrate your achievement.
Bible Cafe isn't just Bible study — it's a personal, intimate conversation with Him. Think less classroom, more kitchen table. It combines the original Coffee with Jesus experience with activities like quizzes, crosswords, journaling and more, all designed to let the Word shape your heart, not just your head.
Most English Bibles can't carry the full weight of what's in the original Hebrew and Greek. The F.O.G Bible Project exists to change that — three new translations built publicly (a Study Bible, a Reader's Bible, and F.O.G Jr. for younger readers), plus a word-by-word renewal of Strong's Concordance restoring the depths most translations leave behind. It is Jean Paul's lifelong work, unfolding in public — and you're invited in.
Jean Paul Joseph is the lead editor of the F.O.G Bible Project. He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

Reba, a Midianite
רֶבַע(Rebaʻ)
Strong’s Definition
Reba, a Midianite
the same as H7253 (רֶבַע);
“And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.”

The Fourth Who Was Not Forgotten — Reba Among the Fallen Kings
There is a name that appears only twice in all of Scripture, and yet it carries the weight of a kingdom that refused to bow. The Hebrew word Rebaʻ (רֶבַע), pronounced reh'-bah, is a noun masculine meaning "the fourth" or "a quarter." It is the same root as H7253, and the sages teach that numbers in the Holy Tongue are never accidental — they are pillars of divine architecture. This word appears but two times in the Tanakh, and both are found in the same breath of sacred history. When you encounter Rebaʻ, you are not simply reading a name; you are standing before a gate that opens into the mystery of God's numbering of the nations.
From the Root of the Fourth — The Paleo-Hebrew Witness
The letters of Rebaʻ — Resh, Bet, Ayin — speak a layered truth. In paleo-Hebrew, Resh is the head of a man, the beginning, the highest. Bet is the house, the dwelling place, the container of life. Ayin is the eye, the wellspring of vision. Together, they whisper: "The head of the house sees." Rebaʻ is the fourth, and four in Hebrew thought is the number of the earth — the four corners of the land, the four winds of heaven, the four rivers of Eden. This Midianite king named Reba was not merely a chieftain; he was a representation of earthly dominion that stood opposed to the covenant people. Yet even his name confesses that the Head of the heavenly house sees all kingdoms, even those that number themselves against His anointed.
The First and Only Occurrence — A King Who Fell Before the Promise
You find Rebaʻ in the book of Numbers, chapter 31, verse 8. Here the text records the battle against Midian, the people who had seduced Israel into idolatry and immorality at Peor. Among the five kings of Midian who fell by the sword of Israel was Reba. The sages observe that these five kings represent the five senses of the flesh, and Reba, as "the fourth," stands for the sense of touch — the most intimate and dangerous gate of temptation. The children of Israel, under the command of Moses and the priesthood of Phinehas, did not spare these kings. The judgment was complete, and Reba's name was inscribed in the scroll as a memorial that the fourth kingdom, the earthly order, cannot stand against the holiness of the One who numbers the stars.
The Journey of the Number Four — From Tabernacle to Throne
The number four runs like a scarlet thread through the fabric of the Tabernacle. The altar of burnt offering had four horns. The cherubim on the mercy seat faced four directions. The camp of Israel was arranged in four divisions around the Tent of Meeting. Jewish tradition holds that the four letters of the divine Name, YHWH, are the foundation of all creation, and that the four living creatures in the prophet Ezekiel's vision bear the throne of glory. Yet Rebaʻ is the fourth in a line of rebellion. It is a sobering truth: the same number that speaks of creation's order can also mark the limit of human pride. When the fourth king falls, it is a sign that the earth itself must yield to the King of kings. The early church understood this pattern as a shadow of the four Gospels — four witnesses to the one Messiah who would crush the heads of earthly rulers.

The Gematria of 272 — The Path of the Humble
The numerical value of Rebaʻ is 272. In the wisdom of the ancient Hebrew sages, numbers are not arithmetic but prophecy. The number 272 reduces to 2 + 7 + 2 = 11, and 1 + 1 = 2, the number of witness and division. Yet consider what other words share this value. The Hebrew word for "to bless" (barakh) has a gematria that resonates with themes of abundance, but 272 also connects to the word for "a doorway" (petach). The rabbis of old meditated on these connections and saw that the fourth king, Reba, stands at a doorway — the threshold between the wilderness and the promised land. His death opened a passage for Israel to enter their inheritance. Every obstacle that rises against God's purpose becomes a doorway when it falls. The number 272 teaches you that the enemy's end is your entrance.
The Messianic Fulfillment — The Fourth Who Conquers the Four
You may wonder how a Midianite king can point to the Messiah. Look deeper into the pattern. The five kings of Midian fell before Israel, but the Scripture says that a greater than Moses would arise. In the Gospel of Matthew, you find Yeshua tested in the wilderness, and the tempter shows Him all the kingdoms of the world — the four-cornered dominion of the earth. Yeshua does not fight with a sword; He quotes the Torah. Where Reba fell by the blade of vengeance, the Messiah conquers by the word of truth. The apostolic tradition teaches that the four living creatures around the throne in the Revelation are the four faces of the Gospels: lion, ox, man, and eagle. Yeshua is the fourth who completes the number, the King who does not take life but gives His own. Reba's name means "the fourth," but the true Fourth is the Son of Man who descends into the earth's four corners to gather His people.
The Call of the Fourth Watch — You Are Not Forgotten
There is a teaching among the sages that the night is divided into four watches, and it is in the fourth watch that Messiah comes to His disciples walking on the water. Rebaʻ is the word for the fourth, but it is also the word for a quarter — a portion that seems small but is precious to the One who measures all things. You may feel like Reba: obscure, mentioned only twice in the story, a footnote in the epic of redemption. But the Holy One does not waste a single letter of His word. If He numbered the kings of Midian, He has numbered your days. If He recorded the fall of the fourth king, He will record your rising. The name Rebaʻ is a whisper from the ancient battlefield that every power that opposes the covenant must bow. And you, beloved, are the covenant. You are the inheritance for which the fourth watch was kept. Do not fear the kings of this world. Their names appear twice; yours is written in the Book of Life for eternity.
