Most English Bibles can't carry the full weight of what's in the original Hebrew and Greek. The F.O.G Bible Project exists to change that — three new translations built publicly (a Study Bible, a Reader's Bible, and F.O.G Jr. for younger readers), plus a word-by-word renewal of Strong's Concordance restoring the depths most translations leave behind. It is Jean Paul's lifelong work, unfolding in public — and you're invited in.
Jean Paul Joseph is the lead editor of the F.O.G Bible Project. He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

The Twin City of Promise: Where Earth Meets Heaven
Six times the sacred text speaks of קִרְיָתַיִם, Qiryathayim, a name that breathes of duality and divine dwelling. This is no ordinary settlement, for its very form is a dual — the double city, the two-fold habitation. When you hear this name, let your spirit perceive not merely a place upon the map of Canaan, but a mystery hidden in the letters of the Holy Tongue. The root קִרְיָה speaks of a city, a walled meeting place, but the dual ending — יִם — whispers of two walls, two gates, two heavens meeting one earth. The sages have long taught that every name in Israel carries a seed of prophecy, and Qiryathayim is no exception. It appears in the inheritance of Reuben beyond the Jordan, and again in the territory of Moab, a double witness to the faithfulness of the One who gives cities as gifts to His people. The Letters of the Double City
Consider the paleo-Hebrew forms of this name, for the ancient script reveals what the eyes of the flesh cannot see. ק (Qof) — the image of the sun on the horizon, the holy and the profane meeting at the edge of light. ר (Resh) — the head, the beginning, the highest thought. י (Yod) — the hand, the deed, the spark of creation. ת (Tav) — the cross-mark, the sign of covenant. And then the dual ending ים, two yods like two hands extended. Jewish tradition holds that when a word appears in the dual form, it speaks of something that exists in pairs — two eyes, two ears, two tablets of stone. Qiryathayim therefore is not merely a city, but a double portion of divine presence. It is as if the Holy One, blessed be He, looked upon this place and said, "Here I will dwell, and here I will dwell again." The name itself is a promise that the fullness of God's habitation has not yet been exhausted in a single location. The Reubenite Inheritance and the Land of Gad
The first appearance of Qiryathayim burns in the pages of Numbers 32:37, where the sons of Reuben build and name this city. These were tribes who chose their portion east of the Jordan, gazing upon the promised land from across the waters. The rabbis of old observed that Reuben, the firstborn who lost his birthright, received a double portion of land but not of spirit. Yet in Qiryathayim, something of restoration flickers. The city was built — not conquered, not taken by violence, but constructed by the hands of those who had seen the mighty acts of the Lord. The early church understood that every city built by faith becomes a testimony to the city whose builder and maker is God. Qiryathayim stands as a monument to the truth that even those who dwell on the edge of the promise can participate in its fulfillment. The walls of this double city echo with the labor of men who said, "We will not enter the land until our brothers are settled" — a shadow of the One who would say, "I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2).The Moabite Possession and the Prophetic Judgment
Yet Qiryathayim appears again in the prophets, and this time the tone shifts. In Jeremiah 48:1, the word of the Lord thunders against Moab: "Woe to Nebo! For it is laid waste. Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is captured." The city built by Reuben had fallen into the hands of Moab, and now the judgment of heaven descends upon it. How easily the sacred becomes profane when the people of God abandon their inheritance! The ancient Hebrew writings teach that a city's name carries its destiny — if Qiryathayim means "double city," then its fall would be a double shame. The apostolic tradition sees in this a solemn warning: what God builds for His glory, man can defile by his rebellion. Yet even in judgment, there is mercy. The very naming of Qiryathayim in the oracle against Moab serves as a reminder that the Lord does not forget His cities. He calls them by name, even when they have been taken by strangers. This is the God who knows each stone of every city, and who will not rest until every Qiryathayim is restored to its true purpose.Send a Gift

The Gematria of 760: A Number of Completion
The letters of קִרְיָתַיִם yield the sum of 760. Let us pause and meditate upon this number, for the Holy One has hidden wisdom in the counts of His words. The number 760 is composed of 7 (the number of divine perfection) and 60 (the number of the man of dust, for Adam's name in gematria is 45, but the letter Samekh, value 60, speaks of support and foundation). Together, 760 whispers of a double perfection, a foundation laid in the heavens. The sages teach that the number seven speaks of the Sabbath rest, and sixty speaks of the age of Messiah. Thus Qiryathayim's gematria points to a time when the double city — the earthly and the heavenly — shall be united in the rest of the Anointed One. What other word shares this value? The rabbis of old would search the Scriptures for connections, and they found that the phrase "the house of God" (בֵּית אֱלֹהִים) carries a similar weight. Qiryathayim, the double city, is a type of the house of God, where heaven and earth are wed in holy union. The number does not predict, but it proclaims: there is a city whose builder and maker is God, and it has a double portion of His presence. The Messianic Fulfillment: Yeshua, the Double Dwelling
Now lift your eyes from the earthly Qiryathayim to the heavenly reality. Yeshua the Messiah is Himself the true Qiryathayim — the double city where God and man dwell together. In Him, the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily (Colossians 2:9), and in Him, all the fullness of humanity is perfected. He is the double dwelling: fully God, fully man. The Tanakh foretold this mystery in the pattern of the tabernacle, which had a Holy Place and a Holy of Holies — a double sanctuary. Yeshua is the veil torn in two, the wall of partition broken down, the city with two gates opened wide. When He said, "In my Father's house are many mansions" (John 14:2), He spoke of a Qiryathayim not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. The early church understood that the earthly city was but a shadow of the heavenly Jerusalem, which comes down from God like a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:2). Yeshua is the cornerstone of that double city, the one in whom the two — Jew and Gentile, heaven and earth, time and eternity — are joined forever. The Double Portion of the Spirit
There is yet another layer to this mystery. Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah's spirit (2 Kings 2:9), and the apostolic faith teaches that in Yeshua, we receive the Spirit without measure (John 3:34). Qiryathayim speaks of this double anointing — not a partial dwelling of God, but a full indwelling. The rabbis of old observed that the dual form often indicates something that is both present and future, both seen and unseen. So it is with the Spirit of Messiah: you have received the firstfruits, but you also await the full harvest. You dwell in the earthly Qiryathayim of your present body, but you are citizens of the heavenly Qiryathayim that is yet to be revealed. The city of God is both now and not yet, both built and being built, both here in your heart and there in the age to come. This is the double blessing of those who trust in Yeshua: you have the earnest of the Spirit, and you have the promise of the full inheritance.A Call to You, Dweller of the Double City
Beloved reader, you live in a Qiryathayim of your own making. Your soul is a city with two gates — one open to the world, one open to heaven. The question that echoes from the pages of Scripture is this: which gate will you open wider? The sons of Reuben built their city and called it Double, but they did not enter the full promise. Moab took what was not theirs, and judgment fell. But you have been given a better covenant, established on better promises. Yeshua the Messiah has entered the heavenly Qiryathayim on your behalf, and He invites you to dwell in Him. Let your heart be a double city where the Spirit of God resides and where the love of neighbor flows forth. Let your life be a witness that the God of Israel builds cities not of stone but of surrendered souls. Go forth today and build your Qiryathayim with faith, for the One who calls you by name is the same who said, "I will write upon you the name of the city of my God" (Revelation 3:12). May your double portion be peace, and may your twin gates be praise and thanksgiving, now and until the day when the full city descends. Amen.
