There is a sound that rises from the depths of a man when his insides can no longer abide what has entered them. The word means to vomit, to spue out, to reject with such violence that the body itself becomes the agent of divine justice. When you hear this word, do not think first of sickness—think of holiness. Think of a God who has made the land itself into a stomach, and a people into food that must either nourish or be expelled.

Before any human ever tasted the bitterness of expulsion, the Holy One spoke of His own action through the mouth of Moses. In Leviticus 18:25, the land itself is described as vomiting out its inhabitants because of their abominations. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me” (Luke 22:42). That cup was the same cup Jeremiah commanded the nations to drink until they vomited and fell. Yeshua drank it and did not vomit. He absorbed the full nausea of human sin into His own holy being and held it within Himself until death. The early church understood that on the cross, the Messiah became the vomited one—the one expelled outside the camp, outside the city, outside the land, so that you might never be vomited out. He took your indigestible sin into His own stomach and let it consume Him. The land received His blood, and it did not reject Him—it shook, it split, it surrendered.

Your Call: Let Your Life Become Digestible to Holiness

Now the question comes to you, and you alone. What have you taken into your soul that the land of your life cannot hold? What secret abomination, what hidden defilement, what bitter fruit of rebellion are you carrying that makes the Holy One queasy? You cannot remain in the covenant while holding what the covenant rejects. The land will convulse. The cup will come. But there is another way: you can vomit yourself. You can repent with such violence that your sin leaves you before God must remove you. The sages teach that the gates of repentance are always open, but the time to enter them is now. Do not wait until the land does what you should have done yourself. Turn while turning still means returning, and not expulsion. The Messiah has already taken the cup for you—do not make Him drink it in vain.
