Paul's Handkerchief is Bible study with a difference â going word-by-word through Scripture to reclaim the Ancient Near East context, romance, and mystery that modern translations often leave behind.
Only about 3% of people around the world who start the Bible ever finish it. The 3% Club is for those ready to break that cycle â reading the entire Bible at their own pace, backed by community and tools built to make finishing not just possible, but inevitable. You also get a certificate to celebrate your achievement.
Bible Cafe isn't just Bible study â it's a personal, intimate conversation with Him. Think less classroom, more kitchen table. It combines the original Coffee with Jesus experience with activities like quizzes, crosswords, journaling and more, all designed to let the Word shape your heart, not just your head.
Most English Bibles can't carry the full weight of what's in the original Hebrew and Greek. The F.O.G Bible Project exists to change that â three new translations built publicly (a Study Bible, a Reader's Bible, and F.O.G Jr. for younger readers), plus a word-by-word renewal of Strong's Concordance restoring the depths most translations leave behind. It is Jean Paul's lifelong work, unfolding in public â and you're invited in.
Jean Paul Joseph is the lead editor of the F.O.G Bible Project. He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars â because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

The Stone That Dreams
There is a stone that dreams. The sages of Israel have long whispered that the gem called Ęźachlâmâh carries within it the memory of visions not yet fulfilled. Only twice in all of Scripture does this word appearâtwice, like two witnesses bearing testimony to a hidden truth. And yet, in those two appearances, the entire fabric of heavenâs priesthood is woven. The word Ęźachlâmâh comes from a root that speaks of dreaming, of the sleep that opens into prophecy. When you hold this stone in your spirit, you are holding a fragment of the night sky that God Himself has set upon the breast of His anointed.
The Dream Root and the Stone of Slumber
Look closely at the letters that form Ęźachlâmâh. The ancient sages observed that its root, chalam, is the same word that appears when Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh, when Daniel sees the great image shattered by the uncut stone. To dream, in Hebrew, is not merely to see images in sleepâit is to receive the blueprint of what God intends to build. The paleo-Hebrew pictographs of these letters tell a deeper story: the aleph is the ox, strength and leadership; the chet is the fence, the boundary of the holy; the lamed is the goad, teaching and instruction; the mem is the water, the flow of life; the final heh is the window, revelation breaking through. Together, they whisper: strong teaching from the boundary of life, revealing what is hidden. This stone is not passive. It carries a lesson from the threshold of the sacred.
Jewish tradition holds that the Ęźachlâmâh was the stone that induced sleep in the patriarch Jacob when he laid his head upon the rocks at Bethel. Whether this be literal or figurative, the truth remains: this gem is connected to the moment when heaven opens and the ladder of Yeshua is revealed. The stones of the high priestâs breastplate are not merely decorativeâthey are prophetic organs, each one tuned to a frequency of the divine purpose.
The First Sounding: The Breastplate of Judgment
You first encounter ʟachlâmâh in the wilderness, when Moses is commanded to fashion the garments of Aaron for service in the Holy Place. The text in Shemot, or Exodus, chapter twenty-eight and verse nineteen, places this stone in the third row of the breastplate of judgment, known in Hebrew as the choshen mishpat. Here it sits beside the shevo and the yashfeh, a triad of stones that together form the foundation of the third row. The breastplate itself is a square of decision, worn over the heart of the high priest, carrying the names of the twelve tribes before the face of the Holy One.
The rabbis of old observed that the third row represents the tribe of Dan, of whom it is said, âDan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.â And what is judgment but the ability to see clearly what is hidden? The dream-stone upon the high priestâs heart gives the power to discern between truth and falsehood, between the dream of God and the nightmare of human pride. When Aaron stood before the altar, the Ęźachlâmâh was not silentâit was dreaming the verdict of heaven into the earth.
The Second Witness: The Gates of the New Jerusalem
The second time you hear this stoneâs name, you have crossed from the wilderness into the age to come. In the vision of Yochanan on the isle of Patmos, the foundations of the holy city are adorned with every precious stone, and the eleventh foundation is the amethyst. The apostolic witness records in the Revelation, chapter twenty-one and verse twenty, that this stone forms part of the wall that will never fall. The dream-stone has become a foundationâno longer carried upon a human heart, but supporting the very dwelling place of God with humanity.
Here you see the journey of the Ęźachlâmâh: it begins upon the breast of the priest who intercedes, and it ends beneath the city of the King who reigns. The early church understood this progression as the movement from the tabernacle of Moses to the temple of Messiahâs body. What was once a symbol of judgment becomes a pillar of eternal habitation. The stone that dreamed of redemption now holds the weight of glory.
The Color of the Night Sky and the Blood of the Grape
The translators of the Septuagint, those Greek-speaking Jewish sages of Alexandria, rendered Ęźachlâmâh as amethystos, a word that means ânot drunken.â The ancient world believed this stone could protect a man from intoxication. But the Hebrew mind saw something far deeper: the amethyst carries the color of the night sky at the moment when the stars begin to appear, a deep violet that is neither darkness nor light but the threshold between them. Jewish tradition connects this color to the wine of the Sabbath, to the grape that holds the sweetness of the seventh day.

Consider this: the dream-stone is the color of the sky when Jacob saw the ladder. It is the hue of the veil of the temple just before it tore. It is the shade of the wine that Yeshua blessed at the Passover table, saying, âThis is my blood of the covenant.â The Ęźachlâmâh does not merely reflect lightâit holds the memory of every covenant meal, every night of wrestling, every dawn of resurrection.
The Number of the Dream: Gematria 84
The letters of Ęźachlâmâh add up to eighty-four. The aleph is one, the chet is eight, the lamed is thirty, the mem is forty, and the final heh is five. The sum of these is eighty-four. What else shares this number? The Hebrew word peh, meaning âmouth,â has the value eighty-four. The word dam, meaning âblood,â also reaches eighty-four when counted with its full spelling. The sages teach that the mouth and the blood are the instruments of both blessing and curse, and that the dream-stone sits at the meeting place of speech and sacrifice.
Eighty-four is also six times fourteen, and fourteen is the number of generations from Avraham to David, from David to the exile, and from the exile to Messiah. The Ęźachlâmâh carries the pattern of the generations that dreamed of redemption. When you count the stones of the breastplate, you find that the amethyst is the eleventh stoneâand eleven, in the Hebrew mind, is the number of transition, the number that stands between the ten commandments and the twelve tribes, between the law and the fullness of the people of God.
The Dreamer Who Wears the Stone Upon His Heart
Now you must see where all of this is leading. The high priest who wore the Ęźachlâmâh was a shadow of the true High Priest who would come. Yeshua HaMashiach is the great Dreamer, the One who saw the ladder in the night and knew that He Himself was the way between heaven and earth. In the Gospel of Yochanan, chapter one, verse fifty-one, He declares to Natanel, âTruly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.â The dream of Jacob finds its fulfillment in the person of Messiah.
The amethyst upon the breastplate of Aaron could only dream of the atonement that was to come. But Yeshua did not wear a stone upon His heartâHe opened His own heart, and from it flowed the blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. The apostolic tradition teaches that the amethyst, the stone of the night sky, points to the night of His betrayal, when He prayed in the garden and sweat became like great drops of blood. In that hour, the dream-stone became the stone of the new covenant.
And what of the foundation of the New Jerusalem? The eleventh foundation is amethyst because the Messiah, who is the eleventh of the twelve in the order of the apostolic witness (for Judas fell away and Matthias was chosen), has become the unshakable foundation of the city of God. The stone that once dreamed of redemption now holds the gates of the eternal Sabbath.
The Charge: Let Your Life Be a Dream-Stone
You have been given a stone that dreams. The Ęźachlâmâh is not merely a relic of the tabernacle or a gem in a heavenly wallâit is the pattern of your own life in Messiah. You are called to wear the dream of God upon your heart, to carry the names of the tribes before the throne, to intercede with the vision of what is not yet seen. The sages say that every person is a stone in the breastplate of the King. You have a color, a name, a place in the third row of the eternal design.
Do not live as though the dream is over. The amethyst still holds the color of the night when Jacob wrestled until the dawn. Yeshua is still the ladder, still the High Priest, still the Foundation. You are not merely waiting for the New Jerusalemâyou are being built into it. Let the Ęźachlâmâh teach you to dream the dreams of heaven, to speak the words of the covenant, and to pour out your life as wine for the feast that has no end. Go now, and let the stone of your heart be the place where God lays His head.
