The topography maps the invasion's advance into the city. שַׁעַר הַדָּגִים ('the Fish Gate') stood on the northern wall—historically the most vulnerable point of approach for northern invaders (cf. Neh 3:3; 2 Chr 33:14). הַמִּשְׁנֶה (haMishneh, 'the Second/New Quarter') was an expanded residential district; the prophetess Huldah lived there (2 Kgs 22:14). The F.O.G preserves the Hebrew topographical term Mishneh; the F.O.G Message uses 'New Quarter' for reader clarity. The progression—gate, district, hills—traces the fall of the city from its outer defences inward.
