לָקוֹחַ (laqoach) opens the unit as an infinitive absolute, functioning as an urgent imperative: 'Take! — receive!' The returnees from Babylon (מֵאֵת הַגּוֹלָה, me'et haggolah, 'from the exiles') are bringing precious metals as a voluntary offering. This is a sign-act of profound covenantal significance: diaspora wealth flowing back to fund a priestly-royal coronation, mirroring the way Egypt's gold was carried out at the Exodus to furnish the Tabernacle.
