עֹבֵד אֲדָמָה (oved adamah, "one who works/tills the soil") deliberately echoes Genesis: אָדָם (adam, "man") works the אֲדָמָה (adamah, "ground/soil") — humanity's most primal, un-glorious post-Fall vocation (Gen. 3:23). The false prophet reaches for the most basic, un-prophetic identity possible. The phrase כִּי אָדָם הִקְנַנִי מִנְּעוּרָי ("for a man has acquired/owned me from my youth") uses the commercial verb קנה (to acquire, purchase), indicating a bondservant status. F.O.G renders this plainly with "a man has owned me"; F.O.G Message amplifies the servile self-abasement with "bound in service to a master," drawing out the deliberate humiliation of the claim.
