מַלְקֹושׁ (malqosh): The "latter rain" or "spring rain" — the final rains of the agricultural year (March–April), absolutely critical for bringing the grain crop to maturity before the summer drought. To ask YHWH for this rain was a covenantal act, directly asserting YHWH — not Baal — as the true giver of life and harvest. F.O.G preserves the Hebrew term to maintain this polemical specificity and agricultural texture; F.O.G Message renders "latter rains" to carry the seasonal weight for modern English readers.
