The verb וַתִּדְבַּק (vattidbaq — 'she clung, cleaved') closes the chapter with a third sounding of the root דָּבַק (davaq): Ruth clung to Naomi rather than return to Moab (1:14); Boaz commanded her to cling to his workers (2:8); and now she does exactly that — faithfully, through the full sweep of both harvests, roughly seven weeks from Pesach to Shavuot (Pentecost). The word traces the covenant-loyalty theme like a thread through the whole story. Ruth's clinging is not passive dependence but active, persevering hesed — the same faithful love she has shown from the moment she refused to leave Naomi's side.
