παρεισῆλθεν (pareisēlthen) is a compound verb (para- + eis- + elthen) carrying the sense of entering alongside as a secondary participant — the Torah slipped onto a stage already occupied by sin and grace, not as the main actor. Sha'ul deliberately demotes the Torah's role in the drama of salvation (an argument he expands in Galatians 3). ὑπερεπερίσσευσεν (hypereperisseusen) is one of Sha'ul's characteristic "hyper-" compounds: grace did not merely exceed sin but super-abounded beyond all proportion.
