νενεκρωμένον (his body, "having-been-deadened") and νέκρωσιν (Sarah's womb, "death-condition") both derive from νεκρός (corpse). Sha'ul deliberately saturates the verse with death-language in preparation for the resurrection vocabulary of verses 24–25: the God who reckons righteousness over spiritually dead sinners is the same God who raises physically dead bodies. Abraham's faith is therefore structurally resurrection-faith — trusting God to act precisely where death has had the last word. A minority of manuscripts add a negative before κατενόησεν, implying Abraham did not dwell on the physical impossibility; the UBS text omits it, meaning he faced the reality squarely and trusted nonetheless.
