Two significant textual issues converge here. First, Ἰουνίαν (Iounian): virtually every early church father who comments on this verse (Origen, Chrysostom, Jerome) reads a feminine name, "Junia," and modern scholarship has confirmed that a masculine "Junias" is completely unattested in ancient sources. Second, ἐπίσημοι ἐν τοῖς ἀποστόλοις: the most natural Greek reading is "outstanding/notable among the apostles" — meaning they themselves held apostolic standing — not merely "well-known to the apostles." Both versions embrace the feminine name and the inclusive apostolic reading.
