"Philotimoumenon" derives from "philotimos" — love of honour, ambition — a word with complex connotations in Greek culture, sometimes noble, often self-serving. Paul rehabilitates it entirely: his ambition is not glory-seeking but pioneer-missionary work. FOG renders it "aspire" to preserve the aspiring quality; FOG Message renders it "burning ambition" to capture the intensity and personal drive the Greek conveys.
