The best-attested Greek text has ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἔζησεν — "died and lived/came to life" — not the more standard resurrection vocabulary ἀνέστη ("rose"). The verb ζάω emphasises not merely the resurrection as event but the ongoing, vital life now possessed by the risen Messiah. Some later manuscripts expand this to "died, and rose, and lived" (a harmonising addition). The FOG renders "came back to life" to preserve the stress on renewed vital existence; the FOG Message uses "rose to life again" to draw out the resurrection proclamation for theological clarity.
