Perath (פְּרָת) is the Hebrew name for the river English renders as "Euphrates." The F.O.G uses the Semitic form to preserve the texture of the underlying Hebrew worldview; the F.O.G Message uses the traditional English form for accessibility. The Perath/Euphrates marked both the eastern boundary of the Promised Land (Gen. 15:18) and the outer edge of Roman imperial reach — the horizon from which history's most devastating invasions came (Assyria, Babylon, Persia). That four angels of mass destruction are held bound at this precise location evokes both the geography of empire and the sovereign restraint of God over history's most fearsome powers until the exact appointed moment.
