θλίψεως τῆς μεγάλης — "the great tribulation/affliction." The Greek θλῖψις literally means a pressing or squeezing — the weight applied to crush grapes or press olives — carrying the sense of suffering that produces something under pressure. F.O.G uses tzarah (צָרָה), the Hebrew equivalent, grounding the concept in its OT matrix: Daniel 12:1 ("a time of distress such as never has been") and Jeremiah 30:7 ("the time of Jacob's distress"). F.O.G Message renders it "great tribulation" to preserve its established eschatological weight. The paradox — washing robes white in blood — is deliberately shocking: it is the Lamb's blood, not the wearers' own merit, that achieves the purification.
