The Greek εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων (eis tous aiōnas tōn aiōnōn) — literally "into the ages of the ages" — is a Semitic superlative expressing unbounded, cumulative duration, not merely endless time. The F.O.G renders it "age upon age" to preserve the rhythmic, stacking Hebraic flavour; the F.O.G Message uses "forever and ever" for its liturgical familiarity and the way it rolls in corporate worship.
