"Ages upon ages" (εἰς αἰῶνας αἰώνων) is the superlative of αἰών — fundamentally meaning "age" or "era" — the strongest Hebrew/Greek idiom for unending duration (cf. לְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים). FOG preserves the literal Hebrew idiom; FOG Message renders "forever and ever" for its liturgical and doxological resonance. Crucially, "no rest" (οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἀνάπαυσιν) is a stark inversion of the Sabbath rest — the very rest promised to the faithful in v. 13, Heb. 4, and Rev. 6:11.
