The second beast emerges from the earth (γῆ) rather than the sea — likely distinguishing land-based religious-cultural power from sea-born political empire. Its lamb-like horns (κέρατα δύο ὅμοια ἀρνίῳ) directly evoke the true Lamb (ἀρνίον) — this is the false prophet (identified explicitly in Rev 16:13; 19:20; 20:10), an anti-Messiah figure who appears gentle and messianic but whose speech (ἐλάλει ὡς δράκων) exposes its true allegiance. Appearance and reality are violently uncoupled — the defining mark of deception.
