μυκᾶται is the specific verb for a lion's deep, resonant roar — not a generic cry. This consciously echoes Amos 3:8 ("The lion has roared — who will not fear? The Lord YHWH has spoken — who will not prophesy?") and Joel 3:16. The definite article on αἱ ἑπτὰ βρονταί ("the seven thunders") implies a recognised category, most likely evoking Ps 29, where "the voice of YHWH" thunders seven times over the waters. The thunders "sound their own voices" (τὰς ἑαυτῶν φωνάς), implying intelligible divine speech — not mere noise.
