זְרַמְתָּם (zeramtam) derives from a root meaning to flood or pour away — a sudden, violent torrent — and the grammar is second-person singular: it is God who does the sweeping. The simile pivots to שֵׁנָה (shenah) — sleep or dream — mortality portrayed as passive dissolution, before shifting to the grass image developed in v. 6. The verb יַחֲלֹף (yachalof) is intentionally ambiguous: it can mean both to spring up/sprout and to pass away, bridging the two verses. FOG renders 'springs up'; FOG Message 'shoot up,' with the passing implicit in the flood image.
