The psalmist appeals to two landmark deliverances: Sisera and Yavin's defeat by Deborah and Barak at Nachal Kishon (Judg. 4–5), where YHWH threw the army into panic and the river swept away the chariots (Judg. 5:21); and Midian's rout by Gideon (Judg. 6–8). Both were won by small, unlikely forces through direct divine intervention — the psalmist's plea is a covenant argument: You have done this before; please do it again.
