FOG renders 'skies' to honour this cosmology. *Din* (דִּין) is a legal verdict or judicial ruling, establishing YHWH's action here as that of a cosmic Judge issuing a binding sentence. *Veshaketah* ('and grew still') suggests not merely silence but the hush of awe and submission — creation itself falls quiet before the pronouncement.
