The psalmist restrains himself from voicing his crisis publicly — not out of hypocrisy, but pastoral responsibility. To speak these thoughts openly would have been to בָגַד (bagad — 'act treacherously, betray') against the community of faith. This is an important distinction: wrestling honestly before God in the inner life is not the same as broadcasting corrosive cynicism. The inner crisis is legitimate and even honoured; the public proclamation would be destructive. The psalmist's silence is itself an act of love toward the generation of YHWH's children.
