*Chamas* (חָמָס), "violence," is one of the Hebrew Bible's most morally charged terms — not merely physical brutality but the entire system of wickedness, exploitation, and moral disorder. It is the defining sin of the antediluvian world (Genesis 6:11, 13), the crime of Sodom, and the repeated accusation of the Prophets against oppressive rulers. The image of *chamas* descending upon one's own *qodqod* (קָדְקֹד — skull, crown of the head) is bodily and final — the oppressor's weapon of choice becomes the instrument of their own ruin. FOG and FOG Message both render *chamas* as "violence," though its full semantic range encompasses systemic injustice as much as personal aggression.
