Paul quotes this verse in Romans 11:9 in his discussion of Israel's partial hardening, applying the psalmist's imprecatory prayer to the broader covenant story. The *shulchan* (table) was the locus of covenant hospitality and blessing; its becoming a *pach* (fowler's snare) means the very source of comfort and abundance becomes the mechanism of judgment — a reversal of covenant blessing into curse. *Lishlomim* ("for those at ease/in prosperity") sharpens the irony: it is precisely in their security that the trap springs.
