The rare verb תְּהוֹתְתוּ (tehotetu) is likely a hithpoel form conveying a violent, clamorous assault; the LXX renders it ἐπιτίθεσθε, "to set upon, attack." The simile of the "leaning wall" and "tottering fence" (גָּדֵר הַדְּחוּיָה, a thrust-away/rejected fence) is most naturally read as describing the battered man's precarious position — David is already like a wall beginning to lean, and his enemies press on him with coordinated cruelty. The image also carries ironic force: those who attack a leaning wall are not strong but cowardly. FOG preserves the structural irony; FOG Message foregrounds the vulnerability and cruelty.
