Kevodi ('my glory') is literally 'my weight/honour.' Some interpreters read it as a poetic synonym for the soul or inner self (cf. Psalm 16:9; 108:1 where kevodi parallels nephesh); others understand David summoning his own honour and dignity to arise and sing. The image of 'waking the dawn' is audacious — the musician does not wait for morning light; his praise pre-empts it. FOG renders kevodi literally as 'my glory'; FOG Message adds 'my soul' as an interpretive gloss connecting it with the inner-self reading, and 'before the morning wakes me' makes the triumphant, preemptive quality of the Hebrew a'irah shachar viscerally felt.
