Footnotes
The word siach (translated 'turmoil'/'anguish') has a wide semantic range: musing, complaint, anxious inner speech, even speaking to oneself. The verb hamah (moan) literally denotes a deep, growling sound—used elsewhere of the rumbling sea (Ps 46:3) and the cooing of a dove (Isa 38:14). F.O.G renders the raw, physical reality ('restless… I moan'); F.O.G.M foregrounds the emotional-interior experience ('anguish, groaning out loud'), drawing the reader into the psalmist's visceral distress.
