But as for me, I will call out to God;
Yahweh will rescue me.
But as for me, I will call upon Elohim;
YHWH will save me.
As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Footnotes
This verse contains a theologically striking shift in divine names: the psalmist calls to Elohim (the universal name for God as Creator and sovereign) but declares that YHWH (the personal, covenant name) will save. The movement from Elohim to YHWH mirrors Israel's foundational experience: we approach the universal God, but it is the covenant God who acts in personal rescue. F.O.G preserves both names to make this distinction visible and theologically precise; F.O.G.M uses 'God' and 'Yahweh' to serve the same purpose in accessible English.
