Footnotes
Nedavah denotes a freewill offering given spontaneously from a willing heart, not as obligatory ritual. It is the same word used in Exodus 35–36 for the voluntary Tabernacle contributions, where the people's generosity overflowed beyond what was required, and it anticipates Paul's declaration in 2 Corinthians 9:7 that God loves a cheerful, non-compelled giver. David's vow is made before physical deliverance is seen—a declaration of trust that treats the future as already settled. The pivot from imprecation (v.5) to praise (v.6) reveals that authentic worship is not escapism but the natural other side of honest lament. F.O.G renders God's name in tetragrammaton form; F.O.G.M uses "Yahweh" to preserve the personal name while aiding pronunciation.
