Footnotes
YHWH-Tzvaot ('YHWH of the Hosts/Armies') is one of the most militarily charged divine titles in the Hebrew Bible—the Commander of all celestial and earthly forces. Paired immediately with 'the God of Jacob,' it holds two realities in productive tension: cosmic sovereignty and intimate covenant. Jacob—the heel-grasper, the wrestler, the man of crooked history—and yet YHWH is still his God. Misgav ('high fortress/refuge') denotes an inaccessible highland stronghold, beyond the reach of any army. This refrain returns verbatim in v. 11, forming a deliberate bracket around the central stanza. F.O.G. preserves 'YHWH-Tzvaot' and 'Elohim of Yaakov'; F.O.G.M. uses 'Yahweh of Hosts' and 'God of Jacob' for immediate theological accessibility.
