*Aven* carries a rich semantic range — mischief, iniquity, trouble, even nothingness/futility — and reappears in v.12 ("workers of *aven*"), creating an inclusio that frames the entire portrait of the wicked. Its companion *mirma* (deceit, treachery) describes speech that destroys relationship. *Ḥadal lehaskil* ("ceased to act wisely") uses the Hiphil of *sakal* — not the loss of intellectual cleverness but of practical, embodied, skill-based discernment. Wisdom here is a doing, not merely a knowing. FOG retains the doublet symmetry; FOG Message draws out the active, chosen abandonment.
