The word *ned* (נֵד — 'heap' or 'mound') is the very word used in Exodus 15:8 of the Red Sea walls standing 'like a heap' at the great deliverance. The psalmist deliberately invokes that defining act of salvation: the YHWH who parted the sea still rules the waters. The *tehomot* (תְּהוֹמוֹת — 'the deeps') echo *tehom* in Genesis 1:2, the primordial abyss over which the Spirit hovered before creation. By storing the chaos-waters in His treasuries, YHWH demonstrates absolute sovereignty over the forces of disorder — subduing the deep as He did at both creation and Exodus.
