The superscription *leDavid* ('of/to/for David') places the psalm within David's authorial voice. Two distinct Hebrew verbs describe divine silence in this verse: *techarash* (from *charash*), to be deaf or stonily unreachable, and *techesheh* (from *chashah*), to hush or grow still. Their pairing intensifies the urgency — David fears not merely that YHWH will be quiet, but that He will become inaccessible. The *bor* (pit/cistern) evokes both the grave and the realm of the silenced dead, so that divine silence becomes a form of living burial. FOG preserves the two distinct vocabularies of silence across the verse; FOG Message focuses on the existential terror of divine abandonment.
