*Nephesh tsarai* (נֶפֶשׁ צָרָי), literally "the *nephesh* of my foes," is most naturally rendered "the desire or will of my enemies" — but *nephesh* fundamentally means "throat" before it means "soul," and the predatory image of the throat opened wide to consume deliberately echoes verse 2's "devour my flesh." FOG retains "throat" to honour this visceral through-line; FOG Message uses "craving" to communicate the same ravenous intent with greater readability. *Viphe'ach chamas* (וִיפֵחַ חָמָס), "breathing out violence," is a striking image: brutality so deeply embodied it is exhaled with every breath.
