*Nephesh* (נֶפֶשׁ) cannot simply be rendered 'soul' without loss—it denotes the whole animate self, rooted in the word for *throat*, the seat of hunger, breath, and longing. To restore the *nephesh* is to revive a depleted person from the inside out. FOG retains *nephesh*; FOG Message uses 'very soul' to signal depth rather than mere disembodied spirit. *Ma'aglei-tzedeq* (מַעְגְּלֵי־צֶדֶק) literally means 'wheel-ruts of rightness'—the grooved tracks worn by repeated faithful travel, not abstract moral corridors. FOG's 'well-worn tracks' preserves the physicality; FOG Message's 'paths of righteousness' captures the covenantal-moral dimension.
