Footnotes
Yenahaleni (יְנַהֲלֵנִי) derives from the root nahal—to lead or guide a flock carefully to water, used elsewhere of shepherding a nursing flock with deliberate tenderness (Gen. 33:14). This is not generic leading but attentive, pace-setting care for the vulnerable. Menuchot (מְנֻחוֹת), 'still waters,' shares its root with menucha—the Sabbath-rest of God—giving the image eschatological depth: this is not mere stillness but divine shalom-rest. F.O.G. renders 'gently leads' to honour the verb's tenderness; F.O.G.M. draws out the theological resonance with 'peaceful rest.'
