רוּחַ (*ruach*, 'breath/spirit/wind') is pointedly absent from the idols. This is the same word used for the divine *ruach* hovering over the waters in Genesis 1:2 and breathed into Adam's nostrils in Genesis 2:7. The idols are anti-creation: assembled from earth's finest materials yet devoid of the animating breath that constitutes life. Idol-worship is thus not merely futile but a deliberate choosing of death over the life YHWH breathes — a reversal of the very act by which humanity was made. FOG preserves the stark, clipped rhythm of the original; FOG Message draws out the horror of the absence.
