Footnotes
Mishpat carries the full covenantal weight of justice, not merely legal verdict or judgment but the restoration of right order, the vindication of the vulnerable, and the execution of Yahweh's own righteous standard. The Davidic throne was not primarily political; it was theological—the king sat as Yahweh's vicegerent administering divine justice on earth. This verse carries strong messianic resonance: the ultimate throne of David belongs to the coming King (Isaiah 9:6–7; Luke 1:32–33).
