Footnotes
Shamayim is the Hebrew dual form encompassing both the visible sky and the cosmic heavenly realm. F.O.G. renders it "skies" to anchor the reader in the physical world the ancient worshipper inhabited—the sky above their heads as they walked uphill toward Jerusalem. F.O.G.M. uses "heavens" to draw out the full theological scope: the One who rules the cosmos, not merely the atmosphere, is Israel's Helper. The identification of Yahweh as Creator stands in deliberate contrast to the localised, territorial mountain-deities of the surrounding nations.
