*Pētaḥ dᵉbārekā yaʾîr* (פֶּתַח דְּבָרֶיךָ יָאִיר) — 'The opening/unfolding of Your words gives light.' *Pétaḥ* (from *pātaḥ*, to open) describes the moment a sealed or closed thing is opened — a door, a womb, a sealed letter. When God's word is 'opened' — engaged with, expounded, read aloud — it illuminates. The image resonates with Yeshua's post-resurrection exposition (Lk. 24:45 — 'He opened their understanding') and with Neh. 8, where Ezra reads the Torah and 'opens' its meaning. FOG uses 'unfolding' to capture the progressive sense of opening; FOG Message adds 'those who are open' — the receptive *pĕtāʾîm* (simple/open-minded), whose very name shares the root *pātaḥ* — a beautiful wordplay.
