O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
Hallelu YHWH, all you goyim! Extol Him, all you peoples!
Praise Yahweh, all you nations! Everyone—Extol Him!
Praise the LORD, all you nations! Extol Him, all you peoples!
Footnotes
Two distinct Hebrew words are used here: goyim (nations/gentiles—often carrying the weight of those outside the covenant) and ummim (peoples—a broader, more ethnically neutral term for human communities). F.O.G. preserves goyim untranslated to honor its covenantal charge, since this psalm is striking precisely because it summons the outsiders. F.O.G.M. renders both inclusively to bring out the universal sweep. The apostle Paul quotes this verse directly in Romans 15:11 as proof that the Gentile mission was always embedded in Israel's own songbook—a remarkable intertextual echo that the Psalmist's two-word parallelism already contains.
