The Hebrew *shamayim* (שָׁמַיִם) is the visible, physical sky — the blue vault above the earth. FOG renders 'skies' to preserve the ancient material cosmology; FOG Message uses 'heavens' to evoke the theological resonance of God's dwelling-place. The image of God robing Himself in light echoes theophanic traditions (Exod. 24:10; Ezek. 1:27–28) and anticipates John 1:4–5, where Light is the primal divine self-disclosure. The 'tent-curtain' (*yeriah*, יְרִיעָה) is the woven hanging of a Bedouin tent — God pitches the sky as a nomad raises his shelter.
