יָדַע (yada) in Hebrew denotes intimate, experiential knowledge — the same word used of a husband knowing his wife, and of Yahweh knowing Moses face to face (Exodus 33:17). Here Yahweh is not a distant observer but is personally acquainted with the righteous person's way. The F.O.G renders "intimately knows"; the F.O.G Message expands to "knows it from the inside out" to give this depth a voice in contemporary idiom. Grammatically notable: the subject of תֹּאבֵד (to'ved, "will perish") is the feminine noun דֶּרֶךְ (derekh, "path/way") — it is the path itself that perishes, not simply the people walking it, underscoring that wickedness is ultimately a road to nowhere.
