*Mitzvah* (commandment, directive) and *Torah* (teaching, law, instruction) are the twin pillars passed down through both parents — notably both father *and* mother hold authoritative voices in Proverbs' pedagogy (cf. 1:8; 31:1). *Torah* here carries its full weight: the same word used for the Mosaic covenant law, implying that parental instruction participates in the same covenantal structure as YHWH's own commands. FOG preserves *mitzvah* and *Torah* to honour this theological freight; FOG Message renders 'commands' and 'instruction' for accessibility while preserving the authority of both parents.
