מְפַלֵּס (*mepalles*, from פלס *palas*, 'to weigh/level/carefully measure') — the same root used in v.6 of the strange woman who 'cannot weigh/find the path of life.' The structural echo is deliberate: she cannot weigh paths; YHWH weighs every one with precision. This is not merely divine surveillance but divine moral measurement — His weighing constitutes justice itself. FOG renders 'weighs' to preserve the concrete, judicial image; FOG Message renders 'carefully measures' to draw out the deliberate, considered character of divine attention to every human step.
