The contrast with verse 19 is jarring and intentional — the wondrous, traceless way of a man with a young woman is immediately counterpointed by the shameless, traceless way of the adulteress. The eating metaphor activates the food/sex double entendre pervasive in Proverbs (cf. Prov. 7:18; 9:17). Wiping her mouth after eating suggests the erasure of evidence — and of moral memory. She has made her sin as traceless as the snake on the rock, but without the wonder. FOG preserves the neutrality of 'done no wrong'; FOG Message adds 'satisfies her appetite' to surface the consuming nature of unfaithfulness.
